Day 1Arrival in Beijing & Pick-up

Beijing Airport Parking Lot

Upon your arrival in Beijing, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax in the hotel during the remainder of the day, or you can have a self-exploration with suggestions from your guide. 

Day 2Beijing

Attractions: Temple of Heaven, Hutong, Peking opera facial mask painting, Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City, Kungfu Show
Meal: Not Included
Hotel: Over night in Beijing

Depart from your hotel in the morning to visit Tian’anmen Square (40min) – the World’s largest urban square, and the Forbidden City (2.5 – 3 hours) – the largest and most complete ancient imperial palace in the world. Then visit the Temple of Heaven (1 hour) in the afternoon.  After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.

Day 3China Great Wall Tour

Attractions: Mutianyu Great Wall, Niaochao National Stadium, Sacred Way

Mutianyu Great Wall

This morning you will be taken to Mutianyu Great Wall to experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. The round-trip cable car will be arranged. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory. Lunch is on your own and your guide will gladly assist.Continue your trip to Sacred Way, a 7-kilometer-long passage leading to the Imperial Tombs of 13 Emperors of Ming Dynasty. The Emperor, known as the Son of the Heaven, who came from Heaven to his country through the Sacred Way, also would return to Heaven through this road.

Niaochao National Stadium

Then drive by the Olympic National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. You will see its unique appearance and take nice photos at a distance. Today’s last stop is a featured local market.

Day 4Beijing - Xian

Attractions: Beijing Hutong, Summer Palace, Take high speed train to Xian

After breakfast, drive to the imperial site of the Temple of Heaven. Originally a site used to pay homage to Heaven and pray for good harvests, it is now a bustling place where locals take part in traditional activities such as Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying, water calligraphy, and others.

Then get back to the central city to hop on a rickshaw to experience the Beijing Hutongs – small alleys made by neighboring quadrangle dwellings. Shuttle among different Hutongs to get a feel of the old Beijing life style, visit various antique shops and small boutiques, and truly feel the historical changes of Beijing, also pay a visit to a local family’s home in the traditional Hutongs.

Day 5Xian

Attractions: Terracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Quarter

After breakfast, drive about 40km to discover one of the greatest man-made wonders in the world – the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, built by the first emperor of China Qin Shihuang to protect him in his afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size warriors, horses and chariots, buried in 3 pits for more than 2,000 years until uncovered by a local farmer in 1974, form an ancient military army with complete battle units of infantry, cavalry, etc. Standing in front of these figures, one can’t help being amazed not only by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shihuang but also by the fabulous artistic skills of ancient Chinese artisans.

After lunch, return back to Xian take a wonderful stroll on the Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Enjoy panoramic views of modern Xian while you leisurely examine this well-maintained city wall which is 12 meters high and 18 meters wide with a total circuit of nearly 14 kilometers. This visit is followed by a relaxing wander around bustling and lively Muslim Quarter, a place where you can try different local snacks and explore Muslim culture.

Day 6Xian - Xining

Attractions: Shaanxi History Museum , Flight to Xining

Hotel: Overnight in Xi’an

Finish up your Xian tour by visiting the famous Shaanxi History Museum (2 hours) – one of the first huge state museums with modern facilities in China. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for a 1.5 hours flight to Xining (2261m), one of the major gateways to the Tibetan Plateau. Your Xining tour guide will wait for you at the airport and help you to check in the hotel. After that, have a rest of this day.

Day 7Xining

Attractions: Qinghai Lake, Sun & Moon Mountain

Hotel: Overnight in Xining

After breakfast, you will start your tour to Qinghai Lake (including scenic shuttle bus and lake cruising, average 3,200m /10,500ft above sea level). After 2.5 hours driving, you will reach this largest inland and salty lake of China. During the way, you can have a short stop at the Sun & Moon Mountain (ticket excluded) site – a natural boundary of the Loess Plateau and Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. In the late afternoon, be transferred back to Xining.

Day 8Xining - Lhasa

Attractions: Taer Monastery, Train to Lhasa

Today, you will first take a 0.5 hour driving to Ta’er Monastery (2 hours) – one of the six grandest monasteries of Tibetan Dge Lugs School, for your half day religious tour there. After lunch and free at the leisure till be transferred to Xining train station for your overnight train to Lhasa.

Day 9Lhasa

It will be a tired day because you need to stay on the train for more than half of this day. After arrival Lhasa (altitude: 3600m) in the afternoon or evening, your Lhasa tour guide will wait for you at the train station. Be transferred to the hotel and have a rest of this day.

Day 10Lhasa

Attractions: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkor Street

Our guide will meet you up at the hotel lobby and start to explore the Holy city.Visit Potala Palace, the largest monastery of its type in the world and official home to Dalai Lama. Walk around the Potala PalaceClockwise to appreciate those who worship every day and also experience the life of local residents. After that, we will arrange a visit to the opposite hill in order to get a panoramic picture of Potala Palace, which is the best photo spot.

Lunch time at Ganglameduo restaurant for local meal, beef and muttonVisit Jokhang Monastery, where monks receive their official training and education. Shopping time at Barkhor Street, a window into Tibetan culture and an opportunity to buy colorful ethnic handicrafts rarely seen outside of Tibet.Back to the hotel, en route you can plan for the night show and ask for some suggestions.

Day 11Lhasa

Attractions: Tibet Museum, Norbulingka, Sera Monastery

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

After breakfast, enjoy your one day city tour today that starts with a visit to Tibet Museum (1 hours) – the first modern museum in Tibet. Drive back to the downtown and have the lunch, then continue your tour to Norbulingka Park (1 hour) – a traditional summer palace and residence starting with the 7th Dalai Lama. After that, pay a visit to Sera Monastery (1.5 hours) – to see a monks debating inside the shady courtyard behind the main temple. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.

Day 12Lhasa - Gyangtse - Shigatse

Attractions: Yamdrok Lake, Coach to Gyangtse, Pelkor Chode Monastery, Coach to Shigatse

Hotel: Overnight in Shigatse

Today, you will drive to Shigatse in the morning. On the way, you can take a short stop at the pure blue Yamdrok Lake (30 min) – one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. And continue to drive to Gyangtse Pelkor Chode Monastery (4000m) – with its unique structure at the foot of Dzong Hill. Then continue your driving to Shigatse (3836m). When arrival Shigatse downtown, have rest of this day in your hotel.

Day 13Shigatse - Lhatse - Tingri

Attractions: Tashilhumpo Monastery, Sakya Monastery, Coach to Tingri

In the morning, you will enjoy a visiting to famous Tashilhunpo Monastery – one of the six big monasteries in Tibet which is the seat of the Panchen Lama. After that, drive to visit Sakya Monastery – the principal monastery of the Sakyapa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. And then, continue your driving to Tingri (4300m). You will arrival Tingri around the evening. Stay overnight at Tingri. Even though the hotel is simple, the people are very friendly.

Day 14Tingri - Mt. Everest Base Camp - Shigatse

Attractions: Base Camp of Mt. Everest, Coach to Shigatse

Hotel: Overnight in Shigatse

 Today, you will need to get up early, generally between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. for catching a picture of the sunrise of Mount Everest. After a bout 3.5 hours driving on the bumpy road, you will arrival the Mount Everest Base Camp (5200m)in the morning. Stay for a while to appreciating this holy mountain. And then, drive back to Shigatse. It will be a driving day with about 8.5 hours on the road. Stay overnight at Shigatse.

Day 15Shigatse - Lhasa

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

After one night rest, be transferred back to Lhasa in the morning. But this time, you will go another way that drive along Yurlong Tsangpu River. So you will have the chance to enjoy the different view out of the window. Lunch will be served on the way.

Day 16Lhasa - Shanghai

Hotel: Overnight in Shanghai

Enjoy your own free time, then be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Arrive in Shanghai, you will be met at the airport and be transferred to the hotel to catch up on some rest.

Day 17Shanghai

Attractions: Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Chenghuangmiao, Shanghai World Financial Center, Nanjing Road, The Bund

Today, enjoy your full day city tour that start with the visit to the Jade Buddha Temple (1 hour) – famous for the seated Buddha, encrusted with jewels, which is said to weigh 1,000 kg. And then, go to Yuyuan Garden (1 hour) – a Chinese classic garden in city downtown. Then visit the nearby Chenghuangmiao Old Street (1 hour). After lunch time, continue to have a bird-eye view of the city after ascending Shanghai’s new landmark- Shanghai World Financial Center (1 hour, 94th – 100th floors). After that, have a nice walk along the Bund (30 min) – famous as a group of building known as “a Gallery of world architecture”. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.
