Welcome to Guiyang, the beautiful “City of Forest” and provincial capital of Guizhou! Upon your arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall in the airport / train station and escort you to your hotel in Guiyang downtown. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, drive to Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfalls in China and East Asia. This area is Guizhou’s top one tourist attraction and landmark. 101 meters wide, plunging 78 meters down into Xiniu Pool (Rhinoceros Pool), an 11-meter (36-feet) deep rhinoceros-shaped pool, and sending foam up to a height of 100 meters. The rumble of the water can be heard some kilometers away. Rainbows appear on sunny days, adding a touch of additional beauty to the majesty of the cascade.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Baojiatun, a well-preserved ancient village with a history of more than 600 years. If you are lucky, you could see the live “Nuo Opera” or “Di drama”, characterized by its special features such as ferocious masks, unique dresses and adornments. The purpose of “Nuo Opera” is to drive away devils, illness and evil influences, and also to petition for blessings from deities.

After breakfast, you will visit the Seven Little Arches Scenic Park (Xiao Qi Kong). You will find both surprise and pleasure. The Seven Small Arches Scenic Park is a narrow valley in the natural forest. Renowned for its beauty, it offers visitors a breathtaking view of the beautiful green water lakes, the magnificent waterfalls that fall from the karst cliff and the idyllic forests that are perfect postcards. From there, head to Libo Scenic Area (40min drive) for further exploration aboard a ferry across the lake, an experience that offers a completely different perspective on this beautiful tourist region.

After breakfast, drive to the amazing Gaoyao Terrace. Gaoyao terrace is located in Gaoyao village. The terraced fields are stacked on top of each other and the whole mountain is covered.

Then, head to the nearby Daizhai Village to experience “Batik Art”. Batik is a craft inherited over generations among the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou of southwest China and has a history of more than 2,000 years. Danzhai County is an important cradle of batik craftsmanship of the Miao ethnic group. The melting of beeswax, drawing, dyeing indigo and boiling fabric are the main processes of batik making by local people. The folk work is famous for its elegant color, graceful patterns and rich cultural meanings.

 After lunch, you will go to Shiqiao to experiment with making waste paper. Shiqiao Miao Village is located in Danzhai County of Guizhou Province and has a history of more than 2,000 years in papermaking, since the middle of the Tang Dynasty. The Miao have kept and preserved their ancient techniques and now the village is considered the “living fossil” of ancient papermaking.

In the evening, go to Qingman Miao Village and have dinner with the local minorities! If the weather is good, we will make a bonfire!

After breakfast, you will visit another Miao Village – Langde (1 hour drive) with a totally different style from the others where you could know the most authentic ethnic cultures. Arriving at the entrance, you could see well-dressed girls blocking the way. It’s a welcome party and guests are allowed to enter after drinking their twelve dishes of road-blocking wines — a very ceremonial etiquette.

After the welcome ceremony, you enter the Village of Langde Miao. Enjoy the traditional show of Miao girls in their silver costumes and ornaments; Learn to fish or embroider in the local house.

After breakfast, you will visit the legendary Fanjing Mountain. You will hike up to the eye-catching Red Clouds Golden Summit to witness the praisable Fanjingshan Temple built on the top, walk to the landmark mushroom-like stone, have the panorama of the enormous enchanting Mount Fanjing from the best sightseeing place on the Old Golden Summit, pray at the sacred great Chen En Temple cluster, and enjoy more beautiful stones and rocks, Buddhist sites, etc.

In the afternoon, you will visit the ancient city of Zhenyuan (2 hours drive), which has long been an ancient city of the Miao people. The honored history endows the ancient city of Zhenyuan with many rich and generous cultural relics, making it a historic garden. The city covers only an area of 3.1 square kilometers, but welcomes you with more than 160 picturesque places, including caves, palaces, pavilions, temples and rivers with their unique architecture, exquisite engravings and wonderful natural landscapes. Among them are the famous Wuyang River Scenic Area and the elegant ancient complex in Black Dragon Cave.
