Accommodation: Overnight in Guiyang
Upon arrival in Guiyang, a guide will be waiting for you in the exit hall, holding a board with your name on it, and then he/she will take you to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is left for you to relax at the hotel or go out for a little exploration on your own. If you are energetic, visiting the city’s intriguing cuisine in the evening will be interesting.

Today, you will discover two different groups of the Miao minority. Matang Village, located 18 km north of Kaili City, about a 2.5-hour drive from Guiyang, is home to 400 members of Gejia, a subgroup of the Miao. The tribe is known as the batik expert in Kaili because the art of batik plays a key role in their culture. The colorful clothing and handmade ornaments they wear every day make them easily identifiable with other Miao groups. Upper Langde Village is a great place to experience the primitive Miao long-skirted lifestyle. Here you can see the women in colorful long skirts, enjoy traditional Miao architecture like wooden stilt houses, and enjoy interesting singing and dancing performances accompanied by Lusheng.

Accommodation: Overnight in Kaili
After breakfast, you will head to the remote village of Zenlei with a history of over 300 years. It is a typical village of the Shui people with a good preservation of traditional culture and customs perched halfway up the mountain surrounded by breathtaking nature. By following your guide, you can get a glimpse of the daily life of the Shui and learn about their interesting customs that are different from the Miao. At the end of the tour, spend the night in the only guest house in the village.

Accommodation: Overnight Rongjiang County
The people in Dong are good at music and internationally known for their polyphonic singing, called the Great Kam Choir. Today you go to the small Dali Dong Villa in Rongjiang County, where villagers are also known for their handmade fabrics. In the company of your local guide, tour the village to see the villagers go through their daily lives, visit the drum tower, and relax in the ancient bridges. You can also enjoy the songs and dances of the Dong people.

Accommodation: Overnight in Jiangkou County
A day trip to the most spectacular rice fields of Guizhou Province. The Jiabang area of Congjiang County is about a 2.5-hour drive from Rongjiang County, the view is spectacular. When you come, you will be surprised by its charm. In spring and winter, the water-flooded terraces look like a beautiful Chinese landscape painting, while the summer terraces are full of waves of green rice, like strips of green ribbons floating in the wind. Autumn, especially in October, is the best time to visit since the green waves move from light to dark.

Wake up early in the morning and go for a walk to the hamlet of tan’an. From here, you can take an average hike with the terraced fields through the villages to Zhaoxing. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and have the chance to see the villagers working in the fields. Return to the hotel to rest before your guide accompanies you to Congjiang Station for your departure train. It’s time to say goodbye and I look forward to seeing you again in other destinations.
