This 5 days Best of Yunnan Tour gives you a great overview of the beautiful Yunnan with stunning visits to Xishuangbanna and Pu’ er!

The tour starts from Xishuangbanna and ends in Pu’ er. We will Walk with Elephants in the Rainforest. Skip the commercial Dai Ethnicity Park. Walk in a peaceful Dai village instead to taste the fruits they grow, to play the instruments they play when dancing, and to learn how to make a clay pot in the Dai style and how to cook a delicious pineapple fried rice. Stand on a Naturally-Grown King Lotus and Feel the Magic of Tropical Plants. Feed a lively red panda, touch a mild deer, say hello to a lazy loris, and have a photo with a rhinoceros.

Day 2Xishuangbanna

Attractions: Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Zongfo Temple, Manting Park, Night of Lancang and Mekong River” night show
Meal: Not included
Hotel: Overnight in Jinghong

The first stop will be Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to have an eye-opening encounter with the rainforest. It is the largest botanical garden in China with the largest area and the richest collection of plants species.

There you will discover meat-eating flowers, flying seeds, and dancing grass. You may have the chance to sit on the huge floating leaf of a super-large lotus. How magical that would be!

After your plant discovery, we will go to Zongfo Temple, the center of Buddhist worship in Xishuangbanna. The splendid architecture, combined with Thai and Dai building styles, will make you feel like you’re in Thailand.

Just a door apart from Zongfo Temple is Manting Park, the oldest park in Xishuangbanna with more than 1,300 years of history. It’s a natural village park and was the Royal Garden of Dai kings. In the daytime, you can view the beautiful scenery of the park, enjoy the legacy of the Dai royal family, and find out about the ‘Water Splashing’ Festival’s culture.

At night, you can see the colorful “Night of Lancang and Mekong River” night show and join in the bonfire party. Have a warm and memorably special day in Xishuangbanna!

Day 3Xishuangbanna

Attractions: Wild Elephant Valley, Manzhang, Dai traditional culture exhibition
Meal: Not included
Hotel: Overnight in Jinghong

You many think of elephants when dreaming about Xishuangbanna. If you want to see the elephants, then Wild Elephant Valley is the best place in China. Xishuangbanna has the only habitat of Asian elephants in China, while Wild Elephant Valley is the only place in China where people can get close to elephants in the wild.

Wild Elephant Valley is known as “the bridge between human beings and wild Asian elephants”. Come to the valley and stroll with the elephants in the rainforest as friends. In addition, the smart elephants have prepared an amazing performance for you (no cruel circus training at all).

After a close encounter with the elephants, we will go an ancient Dai village – Manzhang, to discover the lifestyle of Dai people. Manzhang Dai Village is in tune with nature and very traditional.

At the big Dai traditional culture exhibition and experience hall, you can experience making paper, making pottery, playing elephant-foot drums, and weaving, as well as tasting the traditional Dai food. Drink a cup of home-made wine, and make a slow wheel pottery item, to enjoy the traditions of Manzhang.

Day 4Xishuangbanna - Pu’er

Attractions: China Pu’ er Tea Expo Garde, Sun River National Park
Meal: Not included
Hotel: Overnight in Rainforest

After a 2-hour drive, let us have a cup of Pu’ er tea to relax and refresh ourselves. We will go to China Pu er Tea Expo Garden to see the large planation, experience tea-picking, and learn Pu’ er tea culture while tasting the tea.

Did you know Pu’’ er (普洱) is not only the name of a famous tea in China, but also the more recent name of an ancient city on the Tea-Horse Road since 1384, after which the tea got its current name? The most important producing area of famous Pu’ er tea, Pu’ er prefecture, was renamed Simao from 1950 to 2007, but fortunately its name Pu’ er was restored, which boosted its tea economy.

After the tea tasting, we will go to Sun River National Park, which is a paradise of plants and wild animals. There you can feed the lively red pandas, meet the mild deer, say hello to the lazy loris, and have a photo with a rhinoceros.

You will stay a night in the rainforest, sleeping among the treetop homes of the wild animals. Little Panda Manor’s wooden tree canopy rooms are designed to blend in with the rainforest.
