When your flight lands in Chongqing today, our local guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at the airport and transport you to check into the hotel for a two-night stay. After having a short rest, our guide will go with you to the Jiefangbei Square, centering on the People’s Liberation Monument. It is referred to as the ‘Times Square of Chongqing’. After that, we will show you around the old Ciqikou Village. On the both sides of the street stand antique houses and shops that sell various artworks like embroidery, Chinese calligraphy and paintings as well as local snacks.

Today we will take you to Dazu County by a comfortable private transfer in around 2 hours. It is the birthplace of the amazing Dazu Rock Carvings which were created from the late Tang Dynasty (618~907) to the early Song Dynasty (960~1127). With the theme of Buddhism, Dazu cliffside carvings are distributed in Beishan, Baodingshan, Nanshan, Shimenshan and Shizhuanshan.
You will spend the day visiting Baodingshan Carvings located about 527 meters above sea level. It mainly consists of the Dafowan Rock Carvings Area and Xiaofowan Rock Carvings Area. There are about 10,000 statues of Buddha carved on the 500-meter cliff in the U-shape Dafowan. It is said to be a long narrative mural with plenty of commentary but no repeated content. If interested, you could walk to the nearby shopping street where imitated statues and other handicrafts are sold. While the tour ends, we will drive you back to Chongqing and you can enjoy the rest of the day on your own.

This morning, your Chongqing city tour continues to Chongqing Zoo, where you can see those cute giant pandas playing, sleeping and eating freely. The next destination is the General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum, which was constructed on the base of this friendly American General’s former residence. During World War II, he has made great contribution to the antifascist war of Chinese people. In the museum, you can see the General’s bedroom, office, meeting rooms, scripts and other daily goods.
