Overview:

Take in the highlights of Beijing, Xi ‘an and Chengdu on an unforgettable 9-day tour led by a knowledgeable guide. Start with Beijing’s crown jewels, including the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall. Fly to Xi ‘an and visit the Terracotta Warriors, the Little Goose Pagoda, the Great Mosque and the Old City Wall. Another flight will take you to Chengdu for a close encounter with pandas at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and to view the excellent historical exhibits at the Jinsha Site Museum.

Beijing Airport Parking Lot

Upon your arrival in Beijing, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax in the hotel during the remainder of the day, or you can have a self-exploration with suggestions from your guide. 

Day 2Beijing

Attractions: Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang), Forbidden City-The Palace Museum, Hutong Tour

Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang)

This morning, your tour guide will pick up you at the hotel and take you to visit Tiananmen Square. You will see what the biggest urban city square in the world looks like.

Forbidden City-The Palace Museum

From Tiananmen Square, you will enter the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City to explore its fascinating halls and pavilions. Here, you will not only learn how the emperor handled political affairs and lived their lives, but appreciate numerous ancient art treasures. At noon, an a la carte welcome lunch will be served at a superb local restaurant, where you can have a taste of authentic Chinese food.

Hutong Tour

Then a trip to the old Hutongs will conclude your day. Taking the local rickshaw and traveling along the narrow lanes, you will get a close touch with the original Beijing lifestyle and culture.

Day 3China Great Wall Tour

Attractions: Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)

Mutianyu Great Wall

This morning you will be taken to Mutianyu Great Wall to experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. The round-trip cable car will be arranged. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory. Lunch is on your own and your guide will gladly assist.

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)

Visit the Summer Palace – the largest existing imperial garden with a graceful landscape and magnificent constructions.

Day 4Beijing to Xian

Attractions: Temple of Heaven, Old Beijing Hutong, High speed train to Xian

You will be met at the hotel lobby and enjoy half day leisure tour before leaving Beijing.
Visit Temple of Heaven, which is the masterpiece of ancient times and China’s existing largest structure for sacrifice to heaven. You could also see lots of local residents doing exercises in the square and full of vigor. After that, step into the pure Hutong nearby and pretend to be a real Beijinger for a while.A La Carte lunch at a local popular restaurant, atmosphere might be loud but  the food is tasty.After lunch, be transferred to the train station for the 5 hours train to Xian. Your Xian tour guide will wait for you at the train station and help you to transfer to the hotel.

Day 5Xi'an

Attractions: Ancient City Wall, Tai Chi Chuan Course, Terracotta Warriors, Pottery workshop

Today we will have a full day to explore this historical and cultural city in China. Pick up from hotel in the morning, and then have a visit to the landmark of Xi’an—Xian City Wall. You could choose to have a bicycle riding on the city wall (***Bicycle riding is optional and excluded from our price***). An impressive Tai Chi Chuan course is arranged at the City Wall for you. Originating from the roots of classical Chinese culture, Tai Chi Chuan absorbed a variety of sources including the Book of Changes, Taoism and Buddhism. With a professional Tai Chi Master’s teaching, you will understand Chinese culture better.

After that, we will drive to the highlights in Xi’an —the Terracotta Warriors. On the way to Terracotta Warriors, we will have a stop at a cave dwelling pottery workshop, where you will have chance to learn how to make a miniature terracotta warrior.  A la carte lunch is arranged at a local restaurant nearby Terracotta Warriors. In the afternoon, we will have enough time to visit this world wonder — Terracotta Warriors, one of the world’s most important archaeological finds, with troops, horses and carriages in battle formation.The tour finishes by dropping-off at the hotel lobby. You could ask your local guide for some information about evening entertainment or night show, such as Tang Dynasty Show.

Day 6Xi'an - Chengdu

Attractions: Ancient City Wall, Wild Goose Pagoda and north square, High speed train to Chengdu

Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang)

The day begins with a leisure visit to the City Wall Park, where you can observe the day-to-day life of the locals. After that, you will pay a visit to the City Wall. It is the most complete existing urban fortification in China. Cycling on the ancient wall is an exciting experience that many people like to try (bike rental fee is not included).

Great Mosque of Xi’an

Next, you will visit the Great Mosque, a remarkable Islamic cultural relic, which perfectly combines Chinese traditional with Islamic architectural styles.

Muslim Quarter

Around the mosque is a lively Muslim bazaar, where you could explore for local snacks and handicrafts.

Chengdu

After lunch, your guide will send you to the railway station for you to take another high speed train to Chengdu. Your guide based there will pick you up on arrival and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 7Chengdu

Attractions: Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)

Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)

This morning, you will be escorted to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base to see the rare and endangered animals – the Giant Pandas. Today’s pickup is a bit earlier as pandas are more active in the morning during their feeding time. You may have an opportunity to close appreciate the daily life of this cute species. Lunch is not included today, but your guide is happy to take you to a popular local restaurant.

Day 8Chengdu to Shanghai by Flight

Attractions: Jinsha Site Museum, Chengdu Renmin Park

Jinsha Site Museum

Jinsha Site Museum is built to protect, study and display the archaeological finds of Jinsha Site, dating back to about 3,000 years ago.

Chengdu Renmin Park

You will be transferred to a popular local venue, Renmin Park. Have a tea break and experience the casual lifestyle of Chengdu people.

Shanghai

After that, your guide will send you to the airport for you to fly to Shanghai. Upon landing, your local guide will pick you up at the airport and send you to the hotel.

Day 9Shanghai

Attractions: Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan), Yu Garden (Yuyuan), Huangpu River, The Bund (Wai Tan)

Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan)

This morning, Your local tour guide will pick you up at your hotel. You will visit one of the four largest museums in China, the Shanghai Museum, which specializes in exhibiting artworks from ancient times.

Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

After that, explore Yu Garden. The symbol of the Garden is the Nine Zigzag Bridge built of granite and grass-white jade and the quaint, elegant mid-lake pavilion. Around noon, an a la carte farewell lunch will be served to you at a very nice restaurant.

Huangpu River

Take a one-hour cruise along the Huangpu River – the mother river of Shanghai. As the symbol and a microcosm of the city, the river has witnessed the glory, humiliation, despair, and prosperity of Shanghai.

The Bund (Wai Tan)

Have some free time in the Bund area. Upon returning to the hotel, your guide will see you into the lobby to say bon voyage.

Day 10Shanghai

Shanghai
Today, you can enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and make your own arrangements for the rest of the day. Shanghai is a charming cosmopolitan city with a lot to offer to its visitors. Free day at leisure and be transferred to the airport for return flight. We can arrange the Maglev train ride to Pudong airport if you are interested in, or we will drive you directly to the airport.
