Overview:

It was a wonderful experience!!Those 5 days were in Xi’an and Pingyao. On the second day, we would go to Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, Little Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi’an Museum, Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter. These places are as amazing as you can imagine, and our Terracotta Warriors experience was unforgettable. On the third day, we visited the ancient city of Pingyao, the Rishengchang Exchange Hall, the Armed Escort Company Museum, the county government offices and the Pingyao City Wall. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to interact and engage with such Chinese culture in Pingyao.

Day 1Xi'an Arrival

Welcome to Xi’an! After retrieving your luggage, you will find your local guide waiting for you in the Arrival Hall of the airport, holding a welcome sign with your name on it. After a warm greeting, you will be taken to the hotel in a comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle and your guide will help you with the check-in.

Day 2Xi'an

Attractions: Da Cien Temple, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Stele Forest Museum, Xi ‘an City Wall

Hotel: Overnight in Xi’an

Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Da Cien Temple in the morning.Da Cien Temple was built by Emperor Gojong in memory of his mother Empress Mundeok. Then you will visit the Shaanxi History Museum, which has a collection of more than 370,000 cultural relics, including murals, paintings, pottery, coins and bronze and gold and silver articles. In the afternoon, you will visit the Xi ‘an City Wall, one of the oldest and best preserved city walls in the world. After that, you’ll visit the Stele Forest Museum, which was built in 1078 on the site of a Confucian temple to preserve the Confucian classics. The museum now has a collection of 3,000 stone tablets displaying calligraphy, paintings and historical records. It is a treasure of Chinese art and history.

Day 3Xi'an

Attractions: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Little Wild Goose Pagoda, Muslim Quarter, Great Mosque of Xian

Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in the morning. The Terracotta Warriors are considered one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th century and one of the eight wonders of the world, which was built from 246 BC to 208 BC, lasting 39 years. It is also the first imperial tomb in China with a large scale, exquisite layout and well-preserved.In the afternoon, you will visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, which has a history of 1300 years. Then, you will visit the Xi ‘an Museum, which has nearly 130,000 cultural relics related to ancient China and the history of Xi ‘an. Your last stop will be the Grand Mosque and the Muslim Quarter. In the Muslim quarter of Xi ‘an, you’ll find a lot of street food, so try it.

Day 4Xi'an-Jingzhong

Attractions:Rishengchang exchange office, Armed Escort Museum, county government offices

Hotel: Overnight in Jinzhong

Transfer to Xi’an Railway Station for the three-hour bullet train ride to Pingyao. You will start your exploration of the ancient city of Pingyao at the Rishengchang exchange office. This institution, founded in 1823, was the first exchange bank established in China. Set in a compound with three courtyards, the Rishengchang Exchange House gives visitors a glimpse into the history of the early financial system and how it operated. Then you will visit the Armed Escort Museum, where you can try all the martial arts training devices and exotic weapons you have seen in Chinese movies. Afterwards, you will visit the county government offices, which include facilities such as the jail, courtroom, meeting rooms, gardens, and residential quarters and offices for government officials. You can experience a reenactment of a court case from the late Qing Dynasty here. Your last stop is the Pingyao City Wall.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel for a rest.

Day 5Xi'an-Departure

Attractions: Shuanglin Temple, Wang Family Compound

In the morning, visit the Shuanglin Temple, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The themes depicted are generally religious in nature and relate to people’s daily lives. They are considered to be one of the best examples of colorful sculpture in China. Afterwards, you will visit the Wang Family Compound, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Wang Family Compound was built in the middle of the 17th century and its expansion process lasted for more than a century. It is one of the largest architectural masterpieces of the Ming Dynasty; after the tour, you will be transferred to Pingyao Railway Station to board your train back to Xi’an. You will be picked up by your driver and transferred to Xi’an airport.
