Day 1Arrival in Beijing & Pick-up

Beijing Airport Parking Lot

Upon your arrival in Beijing, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax in the hotel during the remainder of the day, or you can have a self-exploration with suggestions from your guide. 

Day 2Beijing

Attractions: Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple Heaven, Facial makeup painting in Hutong

Today we start to explore this city treasure by a visit to Tian’anmen Square, the world’s largest city center square, the locality of numerous major political and historical events. It is the witness of Chinese development. It is only a walking distance from Tian’anmen Square to Forbidden City, the world’s existing largest and most complete ancient wooden structure buildings. You will explore the glorious palace halls and gardens for more than 2 hours in Forbidden City, learning the legendary story of the emperors and how the royal family lived there. You will be stunned by the numerous old art treasures exhibited in halls. A la carte lunch is served at a local restaurant to have a taste of the authentic Chinese food at noon time and have a break at the restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will Temple of Heaven, the existing largest structure for sacrifice to heaven and a place where the emperors prayed for a year of abundance. In the visit of Temple of Heaven, you will be astonished by the exquisite ancient Chinese architectures. Then we move to a less commercial Hutong nearby. A short walking (around 30mins) along the authentic Hutong will give you a deep impression of the local residents’ live. We stop to visit a local family to learn Facial Makeup Painting for Beijing Opera.

Tour ends by driving back to hotel. Please feel free to consult with your local guide about the evening activities in Beijing, such as the night shows of Beijing.

Day 3China Great Wall Tour

Attractions: Mutianyu Great Wall, Niaochao National Stadium, Sacred Way

Mutianyu Great Wall

This morning you will be taken to Mutianyu Great Wall to experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. The round-trip cable car will be arranged. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory. Lunch is on your own and your guide will gladly assist.Continue your trip to Sacred Way, a 7-kilometer-long passage leading to the Imperial Tombs of 13 Emperors of Ming Dynasty. The Emperor, known as the Son of the Heaven, who came from Heaven to his country through the Sacred Way, also would return to Heaven through this road.

Niaochao National Stadium

Then drive by the Olympic National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. You will see its unique appearance and take nice photos at a distance. Today’s last stop is a featured local market.

Day 4Beijing - Xian

Attractions: Summer Palace, High speed train to Xian

In the morning, check out from hotel and start to visit the last spots in Beijing — Summer Palace, the existing largest, best-preserved imperial garden in China. The Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake are regarded as the representative of Summer Palace. In the park, you could choose to take a boating trip on the lake, enjoying the beautiful royal garden view. Walk along the Long Corridor— the longest corridor in the world, admiring the extremely rich and prestigious paintings on the beams of the corridor.
A la carte lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant on the way to Beijing West Railway Station to take high speed train (2nd class seat, duration: about 5-5.5 hours) from Beijing to Xi’an. Our guide will wait at the exit of Xi’an train station with our signboard and transfer you to check in hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of the time。

Day 5Xian

Attractions: Terracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Quarter

Hotel: Overnight in Xi’an

After breakfast, drive about 40km to discover one of the greatest man-made wonders in the world – the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, built by the first emperor of China Qin Shihuang to protect him in his afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size warriors, horses and chariots, buried in 3 pits for more than 2,000 years until uncovered by a local farmer in 1974, form an ancient military army with complete battle units of infantry, cavalry, etc. Standing in front of these figures, one can’t help being amazed not only by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shihuang but also by the fabulous artistic skills of ancient Chinese artisans.

After lunch, return back to Xian take a wonderful stroll on the Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Enjoy panoramic views of modern Xian while you leisurely examine this well-maintained city wall which is 12 meters high and 18 meters wide with a total circuit of nearly 14 kilometers. This visit is followed by a relaxing wander around bustling and lively Muslim Quarter, a place where you can try different local snacks and explore Muslim culture.

Day 6Xian-Chengdu

Attractions: Small Wild Goose Pagoda, High speed train to Chengdu

You will have a leisure morning for your to walk around. Then our guide will meet you at hotel and help you with check-out. Continue a visit to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda ,  one of the most well-preserved Tang Dynasty buddha temples. It is  reputed as the Tang Dynasty elaborate and valuable Buddhist architectural heritage. While visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, you will have chance to watch the traditional shadow play, visit Jianfu Temple as well as Xi’an Museum.
Take a late afternoon high-speed train(2nd class seat) for about 4 hours from Xi’an to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province.

Day 7Chengdu

Attractions: Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Mt. Leshan

Hotel: Overnight in Chengdu

Today enjoy your interesting tour to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (2-3hours) – a huge institution replicates the natural habitat of the giant panda. After lunch (on your own expense), drive to Mt. Leshan. Walk from the head of the gigantic Buddha to his enormous toes (Alternative: Taking Boat from the ferry to the river in front of Buddha). The tour ends at the Tianfu Square where is the city center. Then transfer back to hotel or we will arrange taxi to bring you back to hotel from the square (If the group size is less than 4 pax).

Day 8Chengdu

Attractions: Sichuan Cuisine Museum, Cooking Class

Today we will have a unique day by visiting Sichuan Cuisine Museum, which is the only one so called “eatable museum”, it brings a new visiting concept –visiting can not only completed with eyes and ears, but also enjoy with mouth and nose. Your participation is the highlight of this trip: Taste the Sichuan style stuffed pancake, Tofu pudding, Sichuan pickle; Appreciate the cultural relics to learn history of Sichuan cuisine; Visit the organic vegetable garden, experience the traditional manufacturing techniques of flipping, sunburning and dewing to make Pixian chilly bean paste etc.; Involve yourself in the original food processing techniques, Savor the delicacy made by yourself; Enjoy dishes cooked by yourself.
Menus to choose from: A. Panda steamed dumpling, Kung Pao chicken, Mapo Tofu, B. Pumpkin steamed dumplings, Daqian dry-braised fish, boiled beef in chili sauce. 
After all the hard work and excitement, you’ll relax and experience the life of a “Chengduer”: Sitting in bamboo chairs and sipping tea from a traditional Chinese teacup set in the tea house, you can either have some snacks like peanuts and sun flower seeds or play several rounds of Mahjong, the favorite pastime here, then back to Chengdu.

Day 9Chengdu-Shanghai

Attractions: Fly to Shanghai, Transfer service between hotel and airport

Today after the leisure morning in Chengdu, our guide will escort you to airport for the flight to Shanghai.

Day 10Shanghai

Attractions: Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai City History Museum, the Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Old Street, Nanjing Road

Today we start our day trip to the foot of The Oriental Pearl TV Tower to visit Shanghai City History Museum (The Former Shanghai Wax Museum), where you will know more about the history and development of Shanghai. Then take the elevator up to the 2nd ball of the TV tower, from which you will have a bird-eye view of Shanghai. Go on driving through Lujiazui, the finance & trade zone in Pudong of Shanghai, where you will find many skyscrapers. We will have a view of the modern skyline of Shanghai.

Then back to the Bund, admire the illuminated buildings lining the Huangpu River. From the Bund, you could see the landmark of Shanghai— the Oriental Pearl TV Tower as well as other high-rise buildings, just on the opposite of Huangpu River. Enjoy a local lunch in a local restaurant nearby the bund.

After lunch, we continue to visit Yuyuan Garden which is a Chinese classic garden in city downtown. Then continue to explore the Shanghai Old Street and Nanjing Road nearby which is the earliest commercial street in Shanghai. Drive back to the hotel, en route you can plan for the night Acrobatic Show, especially the ERA show, which is one of the most popular evening entertainments in Shanghai.

Day 11Shanghai Departure

Free day at leisure and be transferred to the airport for return flight. We can arrange the Maglev train ride to Pudong airport if you are interested in, or we will drive you directly to the airport.
