Upon arrival, you will meet our professional guide waiting for you outside the railway station of Pingyao. After a warm greeting, we will transfer you to the hotel to check in. If you have not had lunch, our guide is happy to recommend you a local restaurant for you to satisfy your hunger first. Afterwards, we will set out for this 3 days private tour to Pingyao by paying a visit to the Ancient Ming-Qing Street, Ancient Government Office, Security Guard Company, Rishengchang Exchange Shop as well as Pingyao City Wall in succession in the historic and cultural Ancient City of Pingyao.

As one of the four best preserved old cities in China, the 2,700-year-old Ancient City of Pingyao is famous for containing the most complete dwellings complex and shops with architectural style of Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368 – 1911), which are arranged at both sides of the 400-meter-long Ancient Ming-Qing Street. Situated in the center of the city, Ancient Government Office is built with a symmetrical layout. In Security Guard Company, you will know the history about the security industry through the cases, vehicles and weapons used at that time. From our guide’s explanation, you will know the cultural background of Rishengchang Exchange Shop, the first private financial institution in China.

Pingyao City Wall is the last stop of today’s Pingyao city tour. It has six city gates looking like a tortoise’s arms and legs, head and tail. Hence the city of Pingyao has another named of ‘City of Tortoise’. After a walk on the City Wall, we will escort you back to the hotel.

After breakfast, we will drive for approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) to the Wang Family’s Compound by a one hour and 20 minutes’ ride. This grand compound was built during 1762-1811 by the wealthy Family Wang in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Two enclosing yards named Gaojia Ya and Hongmen Bao mainly constitute today’s Wang’s Compound Scenic Area, and they are linked together by a lathy bridge. Our guide will set the scene to help you better appreciate the fancy and exquisite carvings from tile, stone and wood. We will arrange you to have lunch after around 2 hours’ visiting.

In the afternoon, continue the private Pingyao tour package to Zhangbi Castle in about 1 hour’s drive. Zhangbi is a tiny ancient castle housing underpasses, palaces, temples, military and recreational facilities from different dynasties, and featuring rich cultural heritage in ancient Chinese astrology. After that, we will drive for about one hour to return to the hotel in Pingyao.
